After I'd started sewing but before working on any pants, I thought adding patches all over seemed like a monumental task that would take weeks. Once I did it, it's not too bad. Rip the hem, rip the sides, patch, sew sides, sew hem, done.

What the inside of a Patagonia nano puff jacket looks like. No down, just this insulation. Which has its tradeoffs - most down garments I've owned have had some feather leakage when the pointy end of one inevitably stabs through the light nylon shell.
